IS "FERRY" THE HUGUENOT NAME "FERREE"?
My blog from yesterday disappeared into cyberspace, so I hope I have better luck with this one. This morning, while perusing my e-mail over my coffee, I noticed an entry from a Huguenot list labelled "Ferree" family. This immediately caught my attention, as Ferree would be (with an accent) the French way to spell "Ferry." I have no idea what the origins of mu paternal grandfather's family might be. I had never thought of Huguenot, but then thinking it didi not apply to me in any way, I had completely ignored everything which crossed my desk concerning the Huguenots who went to Ireland. I just recall that there were some. Now I will have to go back and read about them! DOes anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

I have a comment about my mother. She, like you did not ever think that the family could have been Hugenots. She just ignored everything she came across and wouldn't pursue any of those lines. I believe she should have at least checked a few of them out, but she never did. It could be she lost a family line or two by ignoring this opportunity. I will when I start researching again at least check some of them out, though Mom was probably correct in assuming they are not of our family line. But you can never tell until you do the research.
I have other lines that I know are Huguenot, but did not end up in Ireland. Now I will check the Irish ones also. It could be like my serendipity posting on this site!
Perhaps the name could also be Ferris, common in Westchester Co NY and surrounding area.
