history-genealogy site

This is a site where I will discuss my family genealogy research and related history. When a blog deals with a particular family group, I will try to include it in the title so uninterested people can skip it without skimming it. It is my hope to get feedback on research methods, family members and historical context from other historians, genealogists, and researchers. (c) Barbara L. de Mare 2006, 2007

Sage and Chapel families

Another new discovery to keep me posting to and reading the lists: I have found a cousin or collateral with Sage ancestors. Mathew Chapel's sister Ruth married an Abel Sage. This new-found cousin-of-sorts has provided me with his GEDCOM on the Sage family. As the Sages also came from Connecticut, and have Wilcox descendants, he may be a double collateral. I have to figure out how to do a GEDCOM and send him my Chapel stuff. Then we can compare notes. Another happy dance! Now all I need is time to follow through all my leads. My daughter is a full time MBA/MS student, so I have to deal with the kids in the daytime. Somehow I went from raising my two chidren, and sending them out in the world, to now having 2 full time students. My son should get his Ph.D. in the next year. He is working furiously on his dissertation. My daughter hopes to take an extra load and finish her 3 year program in 2. And I have to deal with 4 wonderful grandchildren in my spare time. As if work and genealogy didn't occupy it all! Another one of my duties--collecting and transcribing documents, primarily from New York State. If anyone happens to have any old wills, deeds, letters, genealogies, etc., etc., that they can send to me I would be most appreciative. This is a DAR project. I am trying to collect genealogical records, which are then made into a book, indexed, and filed in the DAR library in Washington DC. I was appointed to this job with the year more than half over so am particularly anxious to get stuff sent to me so I don't have to go searching.
