The 1842 petition for probate of the will of his father-in-law, George Wilcox, lists him as dead when it lists his heirs, including "Susan widow of Hartford Ct. "   We know from census records that Mathew was alive at least until 1860. It was held at West Point, so was well attended from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania gyms. The lists can be read quickly by checking the "Re:"s. If you read the first of a thread and it is of no interest, just delete the rest with the same name. That speeds it up a lot.
